Gunter Hotel Reopens in San Antonio After $57 Million Renovation

The Gunter Hotel, a cherished San Antonio landmark since 1909, has reopened its doors following a comprehensive $57 million renovation.

This extensive makeover seamlessly merges the hotel's historic Beaux-Arts architecture with contemporary design elements, offering guests a unique blend of past and present.

The revitalized property now features 311 guest rooms, including 30 suites and 14 ADA-compliant rooms.

Each room is thoughtfully equipped with a record player and a copy of blues legend Robert Johnson's first album, paying homage to his 1936 recording session at the hotel.

Guests can also explore a curated vinyl library in the lobby, with a dedicated Vinyl Ambassador available to offer personalized recommendations.

Among the new amenities is a state-of-the-art recording studio, accessible via a hidden staircase above the soon-to-open Bar 414, a speakeasy named after the room where Johnson recorded.

The hotel also boasts a rooftop pool, a 24/7 fitness center, and over 20,000 square feet of updated meeting space, catering to both leisure and business travelers.

Dining options have been significantly enhanced with the introduction of four new venues.

Jots, the hotel's signature restaurant, features inkwell blue walls and leather banquettes, serving breakfast daily from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The Keystone Club, adorned with a fluted brass bar and art deco chandeliers, offers cocktails from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Both venues are currently operating with limited menus, with full launches anticipated later this year.

Adding to the culinary offerings, Paris Baguette is set to open its first San Antonio location within the hotel.

This renowned bakery will provide guests and locals with a selection of artisanal pastries and coffee, further enriching the downtown dining scene.
